In this page of Tamil cinema bio, we shall look about one of the latest movies of Tamil actor Surya, Kanguva under the direction of Siva.
The historical movie holding the statement of 'Nothing happens without a reason in this world' talks about a small portion of Tamil people history happened in 1084 ( year ) by portraying some of the glimpse from the living style of those times Tamil people.
Kanguva Review |
The movie starts with the contemporary life of Surya ( character name - Francis ) who works as a Bounty hunter who works for Police department in India. On the other hand a boy of around 10 years of age gets his way escape from a Russian medical lap who does strange works with brain of human who are around 10 years of age. The escaped boy travels to GOA - India and meets Francis in a boat where he arrests a criminal.
The next day, that boy goes to the house of Francis and then some relationship builds between the boy and Francis. Parallelly, we the audience been shown Surya who loved before 1000 years and the same boy in a small village. Surya ( Kanguva ) is the prince of that village. Then, a danger approaches towards the village by means of a British man. What Kanguva handled the problems created by that British guy and how Francis handled the problem to that boy through the Russian gang is the remaining story of the movie Kanguva.
Positive points:
Many scenes of Kanguva has stunning visuals with various colors that the scenes in the ship of British people is captured with black color shades, land of the villain is captured with full of red color. The land of snow is captured with white color etc., The movie is definitely a Visual treat for audience.
Even though the movie has been taken with the intension of covering the whole India audience, the presence of pure Tamil actors such as Pose Venkat, Natty Nadarajan, Prem Kumar and others make us feel delight and gets us the Tamil audience more close to the movie.
The screen presence of Bobby Deol makes us not to movie our eyes away from him, especially in the scenes in his village which is captured in Red in color.
Hard work spend for each scenes are obvious with each frame especially in make for the scenes such as chopping off hands, piercing men with arrow goes out from bow etc., that all those scenes have good make up of showing the arrows going through human bodies.
Negative Points:
Even though it is the way of movie making of director Siva, why most of the scenes should be loud?
There are some unbelievable scenes kept in the movie such as Francis climbing on container ladders and fighting with villains have two fired bullets in his body, taking off flight with open dock.
Acting of Surya in this movie is different, that he has shown different body language for the characters, Kanguva and Francis showing loud acting as a tribal man for Kanguva and a stylish man for Francis. Still we could feel over acting in some of the scenes by Surya.
The movie has decent Computer graphics works but, there are lag in those works such as the sharks in climax scene.
Even though the core story has lot of reasonable emotions, the screen contains a lot of blood sheded scenes including chopping of 100 human hands.
Overall, Kanguva is a different attempt in Tamil cinema aimed to give the best visual treat with reasonable story mixed with emotions.Casts and Crew:
