Some Interesting facts of Illeana
Born in a Goan Catholic Family in Mumbai Illeana was raised first in Mumbai and later in Parra when her parents relocated to Goa. Mother of Illeana D Cruz was working in a hotel.Impressed by the looks of Illeana the hotel Manager suggested that she should start modelling. The reluctant Illeana was persuaded to have her first portfolio in 2003 which was a fiasco. Her next portfolio the following year fetched her three modelling assignments. One of the three advertisements was directed by Rakesh Roshan who played a major role in the launch of film career of Illeana D Cruz. These gave her enough exposure to knock the doors of the Film Industry.
Like her first portfolio her first audition in 2005 for director Teja didn't go well as his project was shelved. Director Y.V.S.Chowdhary gave her the much deserved break in his romantic Devadasu. The film was highly successful grossing 140 millions and fetching her awards and flooding her with many opportunities. The Film Pokkiri where she had played an Aerobics teacher also achieved the highest collection for a Telugu movie .Success followed success, for her next Telugu film Kick again happened to collect the highest revenue.
2006 was a break through for her with a series of hits. Her multiskills especially her beautiful expressive eyes which conveyed both love and pain with effortless ease won her the hearts of millions of fans and millions of rupees..
Illeana D Cruzz debut film in Tamil (Kedi ) did not do well but her next film Nanban the remake of the Hindi Three Idiots went on to become a huge success. This film was directed by Director Shankar and had Vijay as the hero.
She is supposed to be in a live in relationship with Andrew Know bone ( Australian Photographer ) who has three children from his earlier marriage.The grapevine is they are secretly married already.
Illeana D Cruz got into a few controversies too, when she gave her comments openly boldly on sex much to the dislike of many. Producer Mohan Natarajan had stated that she had not returned the 40 lakhs which she had taken as advance.
Her entry into Bollywood in 2012 was with a bang for Anurag Basu's Barfi .She received plenty of accolades and was riding high on top of the world in Indian Cinema.Not only was the film a real money spinner but was India's official entry to the academy awards for Oscar and International film festivals in Busan and Marrakech. Illeana was visually so appealing in the Barfi literally outscoring the scenic beauty of Darjeeling . Though she had lived in Mumbai she struggled with the Hindi dialogues initially until she could master it to perfection and has now reached the zenith of stardom. Illeana D Cruz was the first female actor in South India to be paid One crore for a movie.
