Important facts of Pooja Kumar
Born in to a Mathur Family, Actress Pooja Kumar's parents were immigrants from India. Her father hailed from Dehradun while her mother was from Lucknow.Like her brother Doctor Parag her parents wanted her to become a Doctor or an Engineer. But Pooja Kumar took to acting which was her passion.Her father did not relish her becoming an actor at all.
She took to modelling quite early and was crowned Miss India ( U.S.A ) during 1994 which had opened up a plethora of opportunities for her -

Bollywood Super star Amithab Bacchan chose Pooja Kumar as one of the bright new stars among 60000 thousand contestants for the title He introduced her to Priyadarshan who gave her the opportunity to host the Miss world which was broadcast in over 50 countries.
Pooja Kumar's entry into the Tinsel world wasn't as she expected at all. During 1997 she had three offers from Kolly wood - one along with Prabhudeva/ Simran/ Abbas (in VIP ), One opposite Karthik in Chitra Lakshman's Chinna Roja and Kadhal Rojavey. While she was dropped from the first two films the Film Kaadhal Rojavey was delayed and finally it saw the light of the day only in 2003, It did not do too well and she went unnoticed. In 2003 she did a Tamil/ Malayalam bilingual Magic Music which had SP. Blasubramaniam in the cast but did not fare well.
Pooja Kumar produced a short film - 1001 auditions which was selected in 8International film festivals. She had produced another short film -Shoot my life.
This multi talented versatile personality has left an indelible impression in several fields and is going from strength to strength to glorious heights,
