Celebrations have begun already even before Pongal has arrived. Yes, celebrations have begun in style and whose style  ?..The Rajni style and the Thala style...with the release of Petta and Viswasam. It has been a double delight for the crazy movie fans as they started thronging theaters as early as 1 am on the release date.

What with shows commencing at 1 am the fans across the state thronged those theatres by 1 am to enjoy the style and the action of the super star and thala. Both the movies had garnered the required hype for fans to be excited about.Tickets were sold at Rs1,000/-
Despite the ban on flexy banners and cut outs, they had promptly made their appearance all over the state, fans brought bands to play music and burst crackers. Even the Japanese were no exception to these crazy celebrations .Some of the Japanese, especially the girls joined this fun and frolic, dancing along with the karagaattam  performers contributing their mite to the carnival atmosphere that prevailed in Kasi theater  of course ,not to miss out on the customary Paalaabishegams on the cutouts of their beloved Heroes at Albert Theatre  and Rohini theatre by Rajni fans and Ajith fans respectively.

Woodlands  theater , Chennai turned a marriage hall. Anbarsan an ardent fan of the Super star..tied the wedding knots to Kamakshi in a ceremony  organised by Ashok - Head South Chennai Rajni Makkal Mandram. Food  was served to all those who attended the wedding before all his die hard fans watched the Thalaivar movie.

The Thanjavur fans of the Superstar far exceeded their Chennai counterparts by presenting  the newly wedded couple with seervarisai ( wedding gifts) of over a lakh of rupees besides giving  them Rs 5000/- for their honey moon. The Thanjavur unit of the Rajni  Makkal Mandram performed  the wedding of Jothiraman and Ushrani inside Shanti theatre , Thanjavur where Petta was released amidst a carnival atmosphere by the jubilant Rajni fans.

Siva, director of the movie Viswasam and Trisha who has acted in Petta joined the cast and crew of both the films in the celebrations .

The excitement ..the enthusiasm had some tense moments too..wherein the fans got into a war of words..some .. did not stop with the mere exchange of words alone.Two persons were assaulted by another set of moviegoers due to an argument over occupying seats in a complex that was screening Viswasam at Vellore.The four member gang had attacked the two ( who have now been admitted in the Vellore Hospital) with sharp weapons. This happened despite many theaters having police protection ,as  several shows of both the films were happening simultaneously
.
Ajith Kumar (20) a fan of Thala Ajith set his father ablaze pouring kerosene on him as his father prevented him from watching Viswasam.

Six fans were seriously injured..while the Giant sized Ajith cut out erected at a theater in Thirukovilur collapsed while they climbed on the cut out to pour milk. The cut outs frames suddenly  broke and came crashing down injuring those who were standing on the frame.

With the films of the  two Super stars going neck to neck,,some expect one film to eat into the revenue of another though all the theaters in the state have been more or less equally divided between .the two films...Time,  the fans and other movie goers alone will say,
