Music Director Illayaraja to sing a song in an upcoming Tamil movie:
Ilayaraja's favorite female singer is Asha Bhosle. The moment she arrives..my creativity is triggered..So when she comes for recording only one song.. I grab the opportunity to record two more songs.. retorted Ilayaraja to the questions posed by the students of Queen Marys College, Chennai in a function held in their College.
Illayaraja turned 75 years of age last June ,,and to celebrate his 75th year..several functions have been held in India and abroad.. As a part of this celebrations..he addressed the students..of Queen Marys College recently.
Here are the excerpts of his replies..
I have never been to any college during my teenage..now I go to many colleges to address students .In most cases NOW..there is no relevance between the education ..the job done and the life lived. So in today'sscenario the education becomes irrelevant. to some.
If I had not become a music director I would have become a musician only.I came to Chennai with the dream of becoming a composer in 1968. I wished to meet Mr.M.S.Viswanathan and get his blessings and affection once I came to Chennai which I got eventually and in abundance throughout his life,

The first country that I visited after becoming a music director was Malaysia for a concert. That was after completing 3 movies Annakilzhi, Badhrakaali and Deepam. Mr.T.M. Soundarrajan had insulted me then..before ..10000 people.I can never forget that incident,
Once I became a devotee of Mukaambikai..I switched off to pure white and white..until then I was wearing all the dress that were in vogue..at that time.
My mind is my most favourite instrument..Not only for me..it is there with everybody..Use that invaluable gift of God for good things. If you do that you will live life the right way.So don't yield to negative thoughts.Think positive and lead a positive life.
