Short Review on Chandramukhi 2:
I felt like Chandramuki 2 is more like a remake of Chandramukhi as almost 75% of the movie contains similar scenes of Chandramukhi 1.
The movie has many typical P Vasu scenes to enjoy with family for sure.
Even though there are not many interesting/innovative scenes taking place in the screenplay, the storyline is kept soild till the flashback scenes get more intense.
Looks like Chandramukhi 2 has tried to copy maximum of screenplay from Chandramuki 1 that even the pattern of every scene have not changed like, starting with a fight, song, and then Vadivelu introduction, having a big family trapped in a palace, having a girl next door to the palace. Even the sequence of scenes are resembling with Chandramukhi 1.
There are character resemblances also that Rajni - Lawrence, Jyothika - Lakxmi Menon, Prabu - Radhika, Vadivelu , Nasser-Suresh Menen and others.
When talking about casting, we shall look at a different casting in this movie Vignesh has been casted in this movie as a comedian and he has done his job well too with body language, especially in teh scene when he has to gets scared going to the south side of the palace. In that scene, he has jumped, rolling towel and other things. Of course it might be seen as a normal thing, but this is the first movie he has acted as a comedian and so we shall consider his acting as a convincing one.
The scenes when Lakshmi menen gets influenced by Chandramuki are giving goosebumps even though her acting could have been better without blinking of eyes in the midst of a performance.
As one of the main focus of the whole crew is quiet guessable that the whole movie Chandramuki 2 shall give the same vibe of Chandramuki 1 to the audience, the pattern shall work for the family and the fans of Chandramuki as a movie including Vadivelu comedies.
The casting of the movie are also reasonably fair that Raghava Lawrence can be kept in the place of Rajni due to his mannerisms. Also the reason for choosing Kangana in the place of Jyothika shall be because the director might have thought of casting a North Indian face same as Jyothika and to have some emoting talent.
Inspite of having the above mentioned positive things, the movie has some draw backs as follows,
Major thing is logic, that the movie has many lags due to logic missing such as why should Chengottaiyan kill Veetaiyan without a strong reason. Even though Kangana has been said as the reason for it, there could have been more scenes to convince it at least. Also, Gunasekaran comes to the palace and meets Kangana but he does not know how to get out of the palace. Of course, the trending bike fight scene that penetrates through a school bus is a masterpiece in logic breach.
There are many lags in this movie especially when Vadivelu takes considerably long screen time after Chandramuki and Vettaiyan comes into the present palace, that scene was not comic either.
There is a big confusion that, if the movies tends to kind of remake part 1 then why Lawrence get affected in part 2 while Rajni was not affected in Part 1?
The movie has a grip on the story that the whole family of Radhika wants to go to their Temple and do a pooja there. But it looks like the grip has got losen in the hurry to finish the movie towards climax.
