There were two major issues going on in the film industry recent days. One was the LBTE Tax which was declared as 10% for Tamil films and the other was the raise in ticket fare by 25%So people in film industry decided not to release any new films for Diwali as a protest against the issues. They were making continuous efforts to discuss with the government authorities to sort out the problem.
Finally they have reached a solution for the problem and the revised tax terms and ticket fare details has been given by the concerned authorities from the film industry.Regarding this the secretary of film industry Vishal has given all details in the press meet.
He said like their request has been succeeded. He declared the revised ticket fare details as follows.
Revised Cinema Ticket fares in Tamil Nadu - from Vishal latest Interview:
Multiplex Theaters Minimum Rs.50 and Maximum Rs.150, AC Theaters throughout Tamil Nadu other than multiplex is Minimum Rs.40 and Maximum Rs.100 and Non AC theaters throughout Tamil Nadu other than multiplex is Minimum Rs.30 and Maximum Rs.80 was declared.
So the percentage of tax from 10% has been reduced to 8% on Tamil Cinemas by the Tamil Nadu government. And 20% on other language films.Actor Vishal conveyed his thanks to The Chief Minister of Tamilnadu, Minister Kadambur Raju and Minister Velumani for reconstructing the rules. He also said like they are still considering to reduce the tax terms for other language films to get reduce from 20%.He said like No theaters in Tamil Nadu should increase even one rupee in the ticket fare from the rates which the government has declared. He also said people should be aware of the ticket rates and do not pay even a single penny more than the rates declared. And if people find any theater getting more money for ticket they can state a complain to the government and quick actions will be taken against it.
Also few more questions were asked to him regarding the MRP rates of food items sold and high parking charges in theaters. He gave an explanation stating that, According to the see form issued by the government to each theater only they have to fix rates and not more than that also the packed foods must be sold only in MRP rates in the canteens. Also this rule of fixing MRP rates is going to be implemented on January by the central government itself. So he requested the public not to give more money than the MRP rates. And also they have kept a request to government to revise the online booking charges.
He gave a conformation that Mersal is getting released on Diwali and also another new film which he did not disclose. And also other language films will get released. Also he thanked MLA Karunas for helping in this issue. He gave one more request to theater owners not to sell more than the prescribed rates.
Press people asked a question to him stating that the theater owners reacted like they only have the authority to fix ticket fare rates and not by the Nadigar Sangam.Vishal replied that he only knows God then below that Government and below that the people who voted .So If government has passed a rule we should strictly follow it if not the concerned person will be punished.
He once again conveyed his thanks to all and left. Actor Prakash Raj was along with him.
