Tamil movie Thupparivaalan - Story Line:
In the first scene of the movie, a man dies with his son ( aged about 6 ) by a lightening, followed by that a police office dies without knowing any reasons while talking in a conference meeting. Vishal, Prasanna are detectives. After they get involved in this case, did they find the mystery behind these deaths or not is the remaining story of the Tamil movie Thupparivaalan.
inspiration from Sherlock Holmes. Realistically fine, but in visual and entertaining aspects
are there some lags. Director implies in his first few scenes, Sherlock Holmes is fiction, but his
visual representation of ambience created for lead resembles more like that in Sherlock Holmes
which makes it alienated.
Instead of showing him in a form more like Sherlock Holmes, he can be shown like ordinary detective visually, to avoid prejudicial expectation created from such images. Vishal performed well as an actor, but in some places, it seems like his performance does not fits in glove with what story’s demand. Scope for Prasanna is little. Little more scope should be given to scenes of Inductive and deductive reasoning with awe strucking brilliance which would have made the movie hold audience on. Perhaps the case of false forensic report shall be given some brief sequence.
Typical police behaviour is not captured in one of the critical scenes in the movie. Usually,
attitude of police is not just to wait and react to some critical situation, when they are overcrowded or dominating. Director comes out of typical body language imposed on the characters usually in his movies.
Background score in some places is good, different experience, detective playing harmonica is not so interesting. He has made sense out of his work. Little more visual gimmicks can make all kinds of audience engaged in the movie thereby making it commercially more successful. Ambience for watching movie: Prefer second shows, avoid criticizing and commenting audience while watching the movie as it will spoil the mood of watching this movie.
