lyricist Kabilan Interview about his song lyrics in Tamil movie I

lyricist Kabilan Interview about his song lyrics in Tamil movie I:

 Lyricits Kabilan

Lyricist Kabilan in one of the most liked lyricists of all the Tamil cinema directors nowadays. Kabilan has written three songs for Tamil movie I Few of the most successful songs from Kabilan are Un Smayal araiyil naan uppa sakkaraiya? - Tamil movie Dhill, Egiri gudhithen - Boys;  Karigaalan kaala pola - Vettai karan; Innum Konjam Neram irundha dhan enna? - from Tamil movie Mariyaan and many nice songs were written by Kabilan. Now we shall see the interview from that lyricist Kabilan:

Question to  Lyricist Kabilan:

How are the songs of Tamil movie I have come?

Answer from Lyricist Kabilan:

I was introduced by AR Rahman with the movie Boys and then parallel introduced by Harris Jayaraj in the movie Anniyan under the direction of Shankar. Director Shankar is the one who made me to the position in which I am now. I have written the song which starts with Ennodu Nee Irundhaal with some correction to suit the lady character.

The next song for Tamil movie I comes with the Chennai slang words which gave me a different experience and the situation of this song is that a Chennai guy is singing a song about his lover. For this song, I collect many words from the north chennai Tamil language. I sat at the top of the Kodaikanal hills with Shankar when writing this song for movie I. Soon after I finished writing this song, Shankar commented that, this song will get me ( Kabilan ) to the top of the proud. The lyrics of that north chennai slang Tamil song of movie I starts with Naan Vannaara pettai; nee vennila moottai and this song has been sung by Aniruth Ravi Chander.

Question to Lyricist Kabilan:

You have been doing many songs for Tamil cinema director Shankar. How is the experience?

Shankar is very much talented in getting the simple words from me for the songs of his movies. Sitting with him and writing songs is an amazing experience. Pallavi of a song is like the head for soul; like the engine for train. If we have got the Pallavi, then we can get the remaining part of the song easily. In the case of getting the simple lines from a lyricist, Shankar is a master. He is good explaining that he explains the things starting from pencil sketch about the song to how he is originally going to make the song into a picture. He even explains about the dresses going to be worn by the hero and heroin of the song in the video. So that we can get into the situation of the song effectively.

Question to Lyricist Kabilan:

In a song in Tamil movie Thegidi you have written love has two letter only !!

Answer from lyricist Kabilan:

Yes. The song starts with the line, Veinmeen Vidhayil Nilavaai Mulaithen. The line you are talking about is not simply telling, Love has two letters, it comes like this, Neeyum Naanum Ondraai Saerndhal Kadhal irandu ezhuthu. It does not mean directly like Love has two letters. Not only you, but also many fans have asked me the same question in the social media also. In the Tamil literature the word Ka means Garden and most of the times, lovers meet in the gardens mostly in those ancient times. Then the word Tha means accepting ( lovers giving and accepting love ). Then the word il means home / family. In that movie the hero and heroin of the movie Thegidi are being lovers only at the time of song and they are still not starting their life together. Thus love has two letters only.

Question to Lyricist Kabilan:

Tamil legendary lyricists / poem writers like Pattu kottai Kalyana Sundaram and Kanna dhasan had high respect. Do you think the same kind of respect is on the current lyricists?

Answer from  Lyricist Kabilan:

I feel like the new lyricists who are coming to the field should make themselves ready. The one who can not become music director if he does not know music. Nowadays one who is in other field are writing lyrics for time pass and they are not getting much money for those time pass works too.  If a song is given to a lyricist, then only his home stove will get fire. Still we have been getting nice songs too.

Question to Lyricist Kabilan:

About your upcoming projects?

Answer from  lyricist Kabilan:

I have been making the poems Kuril Nedil and Nagar parai and an essay namely Egiri Kudhithen Vaanam Idithadhu are ready. Those will be published soon after finishing the final works.

Question to  Lyricist Kabilan:

What kind of vacancy has the death of lyricist Vaali has made in the Tamil Cinema industry?

Answer from  lyricist Kabilan:

Vaali has made the poems for five generations starting from  MGR to Simbu and Siva Karthikeyan. Vaali is the man who has all updates about the current events and affairs. Vaali is the man who talks about the current affairs like Kargil, wars, current cut, coal bribery and many events and affairs through his lines. The opportunities to write lyrics were going to Tamil cinema lyricist Vaali until death time.
